Rituals

Rituals play a huge role in many of the films that we have watched so far. We saw them in Cold Fever and Jacket most obviously but also in other films like Captain Marvel. The rituals in each of these movies were very different from each other. Each of these movies had some set of actions that that are done in a prescribed order and then there is some outcome whether it be spiritual or physical.

In Cold Fever his ritual was the last rites for his parents. Throughout the movie there were several other rituals depicted. An example of those rituals is the Manger scene that the taxi driver took a break from his normal life to be a part of. All of these rituals resulted in a spiritual development of the characters.

Jackets ritual was the application straight jacket, drugs, and then shoved into a morgue drawer. The Result of this ritual was being able to travel through time. Each time he was put into the draw he transformed further into a new person who had clarity on his purpose in life.

Then there are movies like Captain Marvel who had ritual meant to bind the one performing it. When Carol Danvers or Vers as she was known at the time. She was forced to meet with the Supreme Intelligence. The ritual would allow the Supreme Intelligence to merge convene with Vers and then in the end surprise her memories and true potential as a person.

Are rituals always beneficial to those who perform them?
