Genesis, the beginning

In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, gives a recap as to how the earth was created in seven days by God through his speech. Through this, we get many of the foundational pieces of Christianity, including that the Earth was created by a singular God, and his speech is also present. This is significant because this was one of the first times that a religion was monotheistic, and it also emphasized the power of the Abrahamic God, because he could create everything through simply speaking instead of physically having to perform acts, such as killing a great beast like in the Enuma Elish.

However, Genesis isn't just important as just a tool to show how the earth was created. It also shows one of the biggest supporting factors for Jesus being God himself in human flesh, and not just the son of God. As stated before, God spoke the universe into being. In the book of John, the first couple of verses talk about the Word of God creating, and the word of God being God. It then later says that the word became flesh, supporting the idea that Jesus is God in human flesh. This is interesting because it shows just one of the many examples in the Old Testament that supports the idea of Jesus Christ of Nazareth being the messiah and God in flesh.
