Exploring Film Technique

In the short clip, “Bunny,” it is interesting to see the different visuals. The most enticing visual and story told through this short film is when the bunny falls asleep and the oven starts shaking. This is super interesting because once the bunny goes over to see what’s going on, she gets pulled into the oven and eventually starts floating in what looks like the afterlife. As well as this there is the significance of the moth which I think symbolizes her late husband. In a way, I feel like the moth was guiding her to the end of her life and when she fell asleep, she actually passed away and her “waking up” to the alarm was her crossing over into the afterlife.

In “Harold and Maude,” the really interesting way that the images of the mother and son and the close up with the way it was shot is very symbolized. This is huge because it shows the visual that the mom is looking at the son with disappointment but the son is looking at us (the audience) and grinning as if he is looking for someone to praise him for causing trouble.

In “Paris, Texas,” Travis follows power lines throughout the film. This could be depicted as him looking for a connection especially because he has been disconnected from his family for years. The fact that he is constantly searching for this kind of connections shows that the true symbolism of these power lines and his draw to constantly follow them.
