Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel was much different than any of the other movies we watched in class. While we did have a good mix of movies and genres, Captain Marvel was the newest and most interesting of all the films. The thing I enjoyed most about the film was the changing and informative plot line. At first, Captain Marvel thought that the Krees were the good people, while the Skrulls were terrorists. After the story unfolds, she realizes that the Krees had kidnapped her and brainwashed her into thinking that and she saves the Skrulls.
Also, as someone who has seen the majority of the films in the Marvel universe, I greatly appreciated it how this film answered many questions from previous films. Such as, how did SHIELD start, why are they called the Avengers, how does Captain Marvel fit into the modern conflicts/ where has she been, how did certain items make their way to the Earth, and perhaps the most intriguing question answered was what happened to Nick Fury's eye? The director did a great job of incorporating the answers to these questions into an ever-evolving and changing plot line.
Relating the story to religion, Captain Marvel could be seen as a god. Although she got her powers from an accident rather than divinity, she is unstoppable once she learns how to use her powers. Also she is the savior of the Skrulls, and then the Earth when aliens come to kill the Skrulls. There is also a biblical aspect when she returns to Earth to save the Avengers in End Game, as the second coming of Christ in Captain Marvel.
